Dear Friends,
As we approach Veterans’ Day, I wanted to let you know that approximately 350,000 plus veterans live in Massachusetts, including 37,000 plus who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq since September 11th 2001. Our veterans and their families are all around us in our communities. They do not seek out our recognition, and rarely ask for help.
Whether it’s thanking a veteran for their service or volunteering with an organization that supports the troops, everyone can find a way to show our veterans that we appreciate their service and sacrifice in defense of our nation.
Massachusetts has been a leader in the United States in supporting our troops and providing our service men and women with the benefits they deserve. Recent legislative initiatives including ‘The Valor Act I & II’, The HOME Act and increasing the ‘Welcome Home’ bonus have brought increased education and employment opportunities to our veterans and their families.
For more information on how you can help veterans in the community please contact our district’s Veterans Agent Richard Girard at the Agawam Department of Veterans Services at 413-478-4224.
I hope all of you attend a Veterans’ Day ceremony to support and thank our veterans’ for their service.
Thank you for allowing me to proudly serve as your Representative. Please visit my office to discuss any concerns. I’m always available!
Sincerely,
Nicholas Boldyga, Representative
