Simsbury Public Library Granby CT Artist Paintings on Display

Granby CT Artist Ellen Ayotte will be the featured artist for the month of March in the Program Room of the Simsbury Public Library located at 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, CT
The library is open Monday through Thursday 9:30 am – 8:30 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, Sunday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Bring the following documents to apply or renew a passport.
• Application. First time applicants (DS-11); Renewals (DS-82) – Applications will be available at event
• Citizenship Evidence First time applicants (Certified birth certificate, Naturalization Certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad); Renewal (Most recent Passport)
• 2 Forms of ID: Driver’s License or State ID and Work ID or Student ID
• Photocopy of ID Front and back of each ID
• Passport Photo – Photo services will be available at event (for an additional fee of $15.00)
• Payment: First time applicants: Bring 2 checks or money orders can be purchased on site: Check 1 for the execution fee of $25.00 and photo of $15.00 (if applicable) made Payable to “Postmaster” Check 2 for the application fee made payable to “US Department of State” (Total fee is dependent upon product(s), service type and delivery request)

The Big E Meet the Author of New Book

The Southwick Historical Society will host David Cecchi, author of “The Big E”: Eastern States Exposition on the Occasion of Its 100th Anniversary at Christ Church United Methodist, 222 College Highway, Southwick, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
The Eastern States Agricultural and Industrial Exposition was founded more than a century ago to “promote the agricultural and industrial development of the eastern states.” With photographs spanning the past century from exposition archives, area residents, and his own collection, author David Cecchi presents a fascinating visual history of what he refers to as “the fair.”
This program is free and open to the public.
The Book written by Mr. Cecchi about the Big E will be available for purchase.

Southwick Cultural Council 17th annual juried Art Exhibition

The Southwick Cultural Council (SCC) is now accepting applications from all regional artists for consideration at its 17th annual juried Art Exhibition.  The Art Exhibition will be held at the Southwick Town Hall on April 29 and 30, 2017.
The exhibit is open to fine arts, fine art crafts (sculpture, pottery), and photography on all subject matter and media.  Originals, limited editions and open editions are allowed.
Interested artisans may pick up an application and guideline at the Southwick Town Hall or, download from the town website, www.southwickma.org/cultural. Applications are also available at the Southwick Public Library.  All applications must be received no later than March 17.

Whip City Travelers Trip Indian Ranch

Whip City Travelers offers a trip to see the Gatlin Brothers at the Indian Ranch in Webster, MA on Thursday, May 25, 2017. The package includes round-trip motor coach, chicken lunch at Wright’s Chicken Restaurant, the Gatlin Brother’s show and the driver gratuity. The price is $89 per person . Kindergarten Screening for Southwick-Tolland-Granville Children

The Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District Kindergarten Screening for the 2017-2018 school year will be held on Wednesday, May 10th and Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at Woodland School for Southwick, Tolland and Granville residents.
ALL PARENTS MAY REGISTER YOUR CHILDREN AT WOODLAND SCHOOL
In order to be eligible for Kindergarten, a child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2017.  There will be no exceptions to this policy.  As required by Special Education Law, Chapter 766, screenings will be conducted in the areas of hearing, vision, speech/language, cognitive and motor skills.  All parents having an eligible child should come to the Woodland School office at 80 Powder Mill Road, Southwick, MA to pick up an enrollment packet between now and April 24th.  Open enrollment hours are 9:15 am to 2:45 pm.  Granville residents may pick up an enrollment packet at Granville School or Woodland School and return it to Woodland School.
A check off list is included in the packet for your convenience.  Once you’ve filled out your paperwork and have the necessary documents (proofs of residency, birth certificate, immunization record and physical) as noted on the check off list, return ALL information to the Woodland School Office.  An appointment will be made for you at that time to attend the screening (May 10th or May 11th) to complete the registration process.

Southwick Regional School Performing Arts Presents The Addams Family Musical

The Addams Family Musical will be March 30-April 1. Thursday-Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 1 pm & 7 pm. It will be held in the Southwick Regional School Auditorium, Feeding Hills Road. General Admission $12, Students & Seniors $9, Children 12 and Under $7. For Tickets call the SRS Main Office at (413) 569-6171.

Luncheon Tea

Davis Bates, singer and storyteller, will perform at the Luncheon tea at the Montgomery Town Hall on March 18 at 11 am. The Grace Hall Memorial Library and Council On Aging will host this “Celebration of Season” international folktales, songs, and family stories that explore the differing traditions of Spring.
